The globus pallidus is near its caudal limit. The Gpe is evident but the Gpi extends into the substantia nigra reticulata as it crosses the internal capsule to position dorsal to the cerebral pedicule. The sensory thalamus (VPM & VPL) is appearing at the level of the central median (CM). The subthalamic nucleus is prominent on the dorsal side of the cerebral peduncle.
