8th Auditory/Vestibular N- Bipolar neurons in spiral ganglion and Scarpa’s ganglion. The cochlear complex (ventral, dorsal and anterior cochlear nucleus. Transmit neural sound-impulses for frequency as a map, intensity as frequency and number of fibers and direction as a differential between the two ears. The vestibular complex (lat.,med, sup. & spinal vestibular nuclei) code for motion that is either linear or angular (rotation).

7th Facial N- Facial motoneuron are in line with the ambiguus nucleus. The facial nerve loops dorsal around the 6th nucleus to exit ventral-laterally at the pon-medulla near the 8th nerve. This nerve supplies muscles of facial expression and the stapedius m. Efferent parasympathetic axons from superior salivatory N. go to submandibular, & sphenopalatine ganglia in the corda tympani part of the nerve. Afferents enter of superior gustatory N. for taste on the anterior 2/3 of tongue.
