The lateral fissure is most consistent extending from the temporal pole into the supramarginal gyrus (spatial relationships). The central sulcus is bounded by the precentral (motor) and postcentral (sensory) gyri. The sensory projections of the dorsal thalamus for specific sensibility and pain/temperature target the postcentral gyrus. Audition and vision each target their own dorsal thalamic nuclei that project to separate cortical regions.
