Spiral ganglion cells
Spiral ganglion cells
- Neurons are in the modiolus- organized tonotopically along the 2 1/2 turn spiral
- Peripheral process- enters organ of Corti along the spiral lamina with 95% going to internal HC’s row as unbranched 20-30 afferents/ HC.
- 5% cross the tunnel of Corti and go to outer HC’s off the radial course by 0.6 mm.
