“Place distribution” of nerve fibers occurs within the modiolus (central bony core) of the 21/2 turns. These cells are aligned in the radiating spiral lamina extending out from the the modiolus. The low frequency afferents are located in the cochlear apex and the high frequency nerves fibers are located at the basal turn.
