Function- Pain - Temperature & General Tactile
- Function- Pain - Temperature & General Tactile
- Primary neurons are small dorsal root ganglia
- Endings are free nerve endings in the skin
- Others participate by persistent activation of histamines and swelling
- Neurons are small with no or thin myelin
- Central projection ascends and descend in the Lissauers Tract over 3 segments.
- Terminations synapse with the marginal, gelatinosa, nucleus proprius complex.
- Secondary neurons-
- Neurons in the nucleus proprius carry pain to the thalamus
- Axons cross in the ventral white commissure at one to 2 segments above dematome.
- Axons collect in the ventral lateral funiculus in a Somatotopic pattern.
- Cord- dorsal to ventral caudal to rostral
- Project through brainstem to the VPL of the thalamus.
